Blog Summary #1

“The main problem with the great obsession for saving time is very simple: You can’t save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly.”

So it's not hard to see that I've been blogging about my passion, which happens to be music. My leisure is defined through music and it helps me educate myself as well as others. Often, my leisure time revolves around planning, scheduling, and of course implementing the music. I have a lot of constaraints such as school, work, and time in general. Based on my postings, it is fair to say that I am also someone who is quite stressed, even when engaging in leisurely activities. It is part of the process, but in the end it makes me happy which is the importance of leisure. I'm a big fan of concerts whether it's performing myself or going to see one of my favorite artists. I always support others who share the same passion as me and I hope to educate others and vice versa. I also blog about music because I feel that this generation loves hip hop music and that I can get others' attention if I discuss the matter. The only problem is neither me or anyone else has the time to sit and talk about music, or even take time to go to a recording studio and get to work. Aside from the music, I have written about my school and my work which are my biggest constraints. Unfortunately i lost my textbook and I'm currently experiencing difficulty in trying to relate this summary to the theory. I have mentioned this as well, hoping that someone in the class has the answer to my problem. Although I just started working at the recreational centre, I found it approppriate to talk about that because it is directly related to the course and it takes up a lot of my time. It is just as important as my music, therefore I decided to blog about that and consequently, I've learned more about leisure and recreation. I hope you now understand why I've been blogging at this frequency and why I find it difficult to do so sometimes.

I Seem To Have Misplaced My Textbook

The other night I was planning on doing some reading for the course when I realized that I didn't have my textbook. I searched everywhere for it, but no luck in finding it. I'm convinced that it went missing last monday and I'm hoping that somebody from class might have found it. I encourage everyone who reads this to double check their school bags, because there is a good chance that someone could have grabbed it accidently. This is very stressful for me and it restricts me from learning about leisure education, therefore i've decided to blog about it, hoping that someone can help me out. I hate being behind in my readings!!

Sometimes Change Is Good

So I realize that I been going on and on about music. What can I say?? Music is my life, my therapy, my girlfriend, and my leisure. I use music to interpret everything. I find it to be a useful method of self-awareness, not to mention that it motivates me both intrinsically and extrinsically. Although I love music, I don't want people to think that it is my only concern. I do go to school right?? Also, I work part time for the city of beaconsfield providing leisure services at a recreational center. How ironic? I just started this job and i'm rather new to it, but it pays well and it is directly related to my field. For the last five years, I've been working in an Italian Restaraunt and it started to get to me after so long. I realized that I needed a job that was less stressful and that could leisurely educate me. I was given the opportunity to work in recreation so I took up on it and so far i have no regrets. Music is just something I like to do in my spare time because it brings out the creativity in me, which consequently makes me happy. Aside from music, my life is more or less like everyone else. I work ,go to school, hang out with friends, and of course make music, so you can expect to read about all these things in my upcoming blogs.

Method Man And Redman Put On A Dope Show...Literally!

So this time I went to a hip hop show and it was aboslutely the best live performance I have ever seen. Method Man and Redman were wild. They performed for over two hours and they partied all night. These guys were so high it was ridiculous and so was everybody else off their fumes. Their Crazy..haha!! Surprisingly it didnt affect their performances whatsoever. It definitely got out of hand, but nontheless a great night! They performed many songs individually, together, and in tribute to several deceased artists like ODB (Ol Dirty Bastard), a member of the Wu-Tang Clan who are affiliated with Method Man. All the names above have also influenced me a lot. They pioneered hip hop music and they paved the way for my artists in the current generation. Here are videos of these crazy fools

It's Been Awhile...

So before yesterday, i hadn't posted anything in a really long time. Basically I've been really busy with music, work, and of course school. I've also been stressed out and not in the best state of mind to blog. Now that I have some heat off my chest, I decided to write about some of the things that went on in the last couple of weeks. First off, my brother moved to another residence, in which I was helping him with all his stuff. It wasn't very fun and is not something i consider leisure. It was a lot of physical labor and I'm not getting paid for it. Although I did not consider it leisure, I was still intrinsically and extrinsically motivated to do so. Another exciting event for me was about a week and a half a go when I went to a high class labanese restaraunt to clebrate my cousins engagement. By coincidence, one of my favorite rappers, Belly, was there eating with his whole crew. For me, it was quite a shock, because he is one of my biggest influences and after networking with..I finally got to meet him. Some say thatboth our styles are very similar and that he would probably be impressed if he heard my stuff. Sure enough, I had a cd of mine in my car so I passed to him, in which he brought me to his big cadillac escalade and out my cd in his deck. I was nervous to hear his feedback, but once i saw him bopping his head, I felt really good. He then told me that he thought I was really good and that I could get an opening act for him when he performs in Montreal. Belly is an artist from Ottawa and he happens to have a lot of friends from Montreal, some which I know. I never had the pleasure to meet him before, but when I finally did he was very respectful which made me really happy. I also managed to get a couple pictures with him and the other day I managed to get a spot on his record labels mixtape, which was just an opportunity for upcoming artists to get there name out there. In fact, I got two songs on the cd, which will feature other big artists such as Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Bun B, Belly himself, Yung Joc, as well as some other candian artists who got the same treatment as myself. Above are some pics of me and belly and his boys. and below is a video of one of his hit songs in case your not familiar with Belly..there some crazy cameos too!! check it out

If your Passion is Stressful, is it Leisure?

So I had the show on Saturday and it went rather well, although the process of organization and preparation was very frustrating. We had many conflicting constarints that jeopardized the show. Luckily, things went pretty well, but there were a lot of flaws throughout the night. Nonethelss everybody had a good time....except for myself. I only make music for the love of the game, but I've been extremely stressed with this show for the last couple weeks. A lot of work went into it, therefore we expected more from it. There were six acts. I was the headlining act, therefore i was last to take the stage.. The performance was good, but the crowd were very tired and impatient from all the other acts.. many spectaors left half way through the show becuase they had things to take care of or they were too tired to keep screaming and partying.. Oh well.. you live and learn. I now know how to organize the next show in a strategic manner that involves my marketing and social skills.

Come To My Show September 20th!!!

Hey my name is Karl Guerrera. First off, I just want to let you all know that I will be performing in a hip hop show in a couple of weeks. Music is my favorite leisure pastime, so I figured this blog would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion and promote my work at the same time. From this, I plan to create positive relationships with those who might view this subject from an opposing perspective, hoping that I can attract more visitors who aren't familiar with the hip hop culture. If you'd like to understand where I'm coming from, then keep checking back or come see me perform live on the 20th of September at Saints showbar downtown. Refer to the flyer below for more information!
